My dear Risley,
You have no doubt seen the reports in "The Times" of
December 16 and 18 and January 14 and 18 of the case "In the
estate of Abdul Majid Belshah, deceased". These accounts
were of considerable interest to us, and, inasmuch as the
proceedings as they are reported seemed completely unintel-
ligible, Beckett managed to get hold of one of the men in the
case and obtained some information from him which puts the
matter in a new light. "The Times" reports wrongly state
that the deceased was domiciled in England; in point of fact
it was pleaded and admitted by all parties that he was
domiciled in Baghdad, and the case proceeded on that footing.
The facts of the case, as ascertained by Beckett, are there-
fore as follows.
